Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Alumni Association Inauguration Ceremony Successfully Held

On March 28, 2024, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Alumni Association, was grandly established in the Auditorium of Building D at the Macau University of Science and Technology. The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by nearly 300 people, including Deputy Director Xu Zhiping from Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative (SAR), Director Hong Wai Man from the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR, Professor Pang Chuan, Vice President of M.U.S.T. and Chairman of M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, Professor Leong Man Wai, Associate Vice Chairman of M.U.S.T., Mr. Ao Pak Loi, member of University Council, Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of F.H.T.M., Dr. Ma Hoi Sun, Vice Chairman of M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, Dr. Chang Chi Wai, Chairman of the General Assembly Secretariat of M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, and Ms. Vivian Tang, Vice Chief Director and Secretary of M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, as well as representatives of alumni from Macau, Beijing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Hainan, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Zhongshan, Chengdu, and the School of Computer Science and Engineering, faculty, and students. The establishment of the alumni association aims to serve as a platform for communication and networking, fostering a strong alumni community and facilitating the mutual development and progress with the alma mater.

Professor Pang Chuan, Vice President of M.U.S.T. and Chairman of M.U.S.T. Alumni Federation, mentioned in his opening speech the past experience of being the dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management and emphasized that the establishment of the alumni association provides an important platform for establishing closer connections between the university and alumni. He also expressed gratitude for the alumni’s participation, and encouraged alumni to actively participate in alumni association activities. Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, highlighted that the establishment of the alumni association is a new milestone in the development of the faculty, expressed gratitude to the alumni, and looked forward to the alumni association becoming a bridge for interaction between the faculty and alumni. The committee members took an oath under the supervision of Professor Pang Chuan and Professor Ben K. Goh.

Mr. Patrick Wong, Chairman of General Assembly-Elect of the FHTM Alumni Association, reviewed the development process of the faculty and looked forward to the establishment of the alumni association further promoting alumni participation in various development matters of the faculty. At the ceremony, Professor Ben K. Goh was appointed as an honorary advisor to FHTM alumni association.

Mr. David Ao, Chairman of Executive Committee-Elect, presented the working plan of FHTM alumni association, emphasizing that the alumni association will be committed to expanding member participation, promoting career development support, and strengthening cooperation with the faculty. He stated that the alumni association will organize diverse activities, including industry lectures, career consultations, and social gatherings, to promote communication and cooperation among alumni.

After the ceremony, “Alumni Talk —— Hotelier Experience Sharing” was held in the same venue. This event invited alumni who had previously or currently worked in well-known luxury hotels including Wang Ying, Liu Yangzi, Li Sui Nan to share their practical experiences in hotel work with their fellow students. Through the sharing session, students had the opportunity to have direct conversations with alumni, learn more about the industry, and broaden their horizons.
