In order to enhance students' practical knowledge of the hotel rooms management, Dr, Salott Chau of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of the Macau University of Science and Technology, led the students to visit the Londoner Hotel in Macau for the class of “Rooms Management DE3” on March 12, 2024. This class practice activity was designed and arranged by the Londoner Hotel. The managers of different departments of the hotel were invited to give a vivid and great introduction to everyone around the daily work and management of the hotel department.

The journey of the Londoner hotel started from the lobby of the hotel. The concierge supervisor introduced the overall situation of the hotel and the basic services of the hotel to the students and focused on the work duties of the concierge department, the one-stop service and personalized service of the hotel, and also gave professional answers to the various questions raised by the students. Next, the students followed the manager visiting the internal work teams and the storage room of the hotel room. Here, the supervisor of the housekeeping department introduced the specific work of the hotel's housekeeping department to the students and explained the placement of the cleaning cart’s items in detail, so that the students could understand the actual work content of the room management. The Londoner Hotel is an all-suite hotel. The hotel has specially opened a Victoria Suite and a Louis Suite for our classmates for class practice activities. The students were very interested in the internal structure of the guest room. They listened to the supervisor's explanation of the guest room work’s detail carefully and studied the practice of guest room management seriously. They also actively participated in the question-and-answer session and asked many novel and unexpected questions. At the end of the journey, the supervisor led the students to visit some hotel’s attractions and took photos with the students. The manager also introduced the development history and architectural design characteristics of the hotel, which deepened the students' impression and understanding of the hotel.

Through this hotel field trip and learning activity, the students have increased their practical experience, improved their understanding of the course of Rooms Management practice, and also had a deeper understanding of the hotel industry, which is very conducive to their course study and future employment choices. One of the students expressed that this practical activity has taught a lot of knowledge outside the classroom, which is very meaningful.
