Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology and the Korea Casino Association co-organized the Korea Casino Resort Academy Training Program

On 18 Jun 2024, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Korea Casino Association (KCA), hosted a Korea Casino Resort Academy Training Program for 39 delegates from casino hotels and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of South Korea. This training program was a part of the Overseas Cooperation Program organized by the Korea Casino Association (KCA), which is overseen by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of South Korea. This training program, carefully designed and developed through thorough communication between the two parties, aims to deepen the delegates’ understanding of the Tourism Industry and Casino Industry in Macao and provide mutual benefits from increased understanding of the both parties.

At the beginning of the training program, Professor Timothy Lee, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology warmly welcomed the attending delegates.Then, Professor Lee and Dr. Jenny Kim gave lectures on topics ‘Tourism Industry in Macao’ and ‘Integrated Resorts in Macao and their responsible management’ respectively. Prof. Lee provided a detailed overview of the tourism industry in Macao, including tourism resources, attractions, and the competitive advantages of Macao as an international tourist destination. He emphasized the importance of the tourism industry for the local economy and encouraged the delegates to study in-depth the market trends to explore more business opportunities. Following that, Dr. Jenny Kim introduced the development and operation of integrated resorts in Macao, including the various components such as hotels, casinos, entertainment facilities, and retail outlets. She emphasized the importance of responsible management practices in the tourism and casino industries, focusing on areas such as responsible gambling, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.

The lectures by both professors deepened the delegates' understanding of the tourism and casino industries in Macao. The delegates highly praised this training program, believing that the knowledge gained from this training program will greatly benefit their future career development in the tourism and casino industry, and expressed their interest in participating in similar training programs in the future.
