The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology hosted a seminar on September 26, featuring experts from the tourism industry. Professor Antoine Casanova-Mazet from the Hotel Institute Montreux in Switzerland delivered a lecture titled “Digital Marketing.” The seminar was attended by Associate Dean Prof. Timothy Lee, Program Director Dr. Feng Yan, and nearly 100 students.

In his lecture, Prof. Casanova-Mazet explored the key differences between traditional marketing and digital marketing. Through practical examples, he illustrated to the audience that while digital marketing currently dominates the landscape, traditional marketing methods still offer unique advantages. He also highlighted a resurgence of interest in traditional marketing, particularly within the B2C sector.

By analyzing real case studies from companies such as Nike, Prof. Casanova-Mazet emphasized the importance of balancing both marketing strategies. He noted that companies can effectively integrate traditional and digital marketing to create connections and build trust with diverse target audiences.

Students actively participated in the Q&A session, raising their hands to ask questions and engaging in discussions with Prof. Casanova-Mazet about the impact of future marketing trends on their academic and career aspirations. Prof. Casanova-Mazet provided comprehensive responses, drawing on both his professional expertise and personal experiences. He expressed appreciation for the high-quality questions and the serious engagement demonstrated by the students.

Through this lecture, students gained a deeper understanding of the distinctions between traditional and digital marketing, including their respective advantages and disadvantages, as well as their applications in the tourism industry.
