On November 6, 2024, Dr. Salott Chau, assistant professor of FHTM, led a group of bachelor’s students in International Tourism Management on an engaging field study tour. The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of Macao’s historical and cultural heritage, improve their practical skills in explaining tourist attractions, and deepen their knowledge of travel agency operations and management, fostering a spirit of hands-on learning.
The students visited five historically significant sites: Fort São Tiago, A-Ma Temple, Chapel of Our Lady of Penha on Penha, Lilau Square, and Mandarin's House. Under Dr. Chau’s guidance, the students not only listened attentively to the explanations at each site but also actively participated in sharing their insights about Macao’s history and culture.

At Fort São Tiago, students learned about the fortress’s military history and its importance in Macao’s defense system. After visiting A-Ma Temple, they appreciated the blend of local religious culture and traditions. Chapel of Our Lady of Penha on Penha, a landmark of Macao, showcased unique architectural beauty that captivated the students. Their visit to the Lilau Square offered a deeper understanding of Macao's water resource culture, while Mandarin’s House allowed them to experience the characteristics of traditional Macanese residences and the legacy of family history.
