The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Hold the Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism —— Case Study Research and How to Get Published: Transitioning a Thesis Project to a Successful Journal Publication

Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) hosted an "International Master Training Workshop" on August 8, 2024 (Thursday). The workshop, titled "Case Study Research and How to Get Published: Transitioning a Thesis Project to a Successful Journal Publication", featured Associate Professor Gabby Walters from the University of Queensland, Australia, as the keynote speaker. Assistant Dean Zhang Yang and nearly 100 faculty members and students attended the lecture, which received substantial support from the Macau SAR Government Education Fund.

Associate Professor Gabby Walters provided an in-depth yet accessible explanation of key issues, including how to conduct effective case studies, important considerations when publishing case studies or research papers, and how to understand and respond to reviewers' comments. The atmosphere was lively, with faculty and students actively participating in the interactive session, engaging in profound discussions with Associate Professor Walters about their concerns regarding paper writing and publication processes. Additionally, drawing from her experience as a journal reviewer, Associate Professor Walters shared recent trends in journal acceptance rates and overall submission patterns, providing valuable reference information for the attendees.

This workshop not only demonstrated the close cooperation between the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) and the University of Queensland in education and research but also established a platform for academic exchange among faculty and students.
