Latin American Cooking Demonstration held in MUST

On September 9, 2016 15:00-17:00, the “Latin American Cooking Demonstration – Cuban Cuisine” was held at the Culinary Lab of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Macau University of Science and Technology. This event was jointly organized by FHTM of MUST, MGTO and MAPEAL, and sponsored by the Macau Foundation. This event aimed to provide an opportunity for the Bachelor of Food and Beverage Management students to learn the culture, professional cooking, and promote leisure cooking experience of Latin American cuisine

The cooking demonstration was presented by Chef Yoiry Rodriguez Hernandez from Cuba. Chef Hernandez has worked in several big hotel chains, and is now an executive chef at one of the best restaurants awarded by the REDSTAR magazine. The demonstration was attended by the FHTM students and faculty staff. Chef Hernandez demonstrated three courses: appetizer “Tostones Rellenos”; main course “Ropa Vieja” and dessert “Atol”. The students raised some questions during the demonstration and also participated in cooking, such as shredding beef and frying bananas. At the end, students and staff tried all three courses. The students were excited as it was their first experience with Latin American Cuisine. By participating in this event, students broadened their knowledge of Latin America Culture.
