Latin American Cooking Demonstration held at MUST

On September 15, 2016 15:00-17:00, the “Latin American Cooking Demonstration – Peru Cuisine” was held at the Culinary Lab of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Macau University of Science and Technology. Following the successful demonstration of Cuban cuisine on September 8, this demonstration aimed to promote the culinary culture of Peruvian cuisine. The event was jointly organized by FHTM of MUST, MGTO and MAPEAL, and sponsored by the Macau Foundation. This event provided an opportunity for the Bachelor of Food and Beverage Management students to learn the culture, professional cooking, and promote leisure cooking experience of Latin American cuisine.

The cooking demonstration was presented by Mr. Sergio Manuel Avila Traverso, Peru Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau. The demonstration was attended by the FHTM students and faculty staff. Beside introduced some typical ingredients used in Peruvian cuisine, Mr. Traverso also demonstrated two dishes “TRADITIONAL CEVICHE” , “QUINOA SALA” and one cocktail “PISCO SOUR”. The students were intrigued by the technique and the special ingredients. They were excited as it was their first experience with Peruvian Cuisine. By participating in this event, students broadened their knowledge of Latin America Culture.
