From April to June 2025, teachers from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macau University of Science and Technology visited 15 internship institutions in Macau, Zhuhai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. The purpose of these visits was to understand students’ internship performance and workplace adaptation. The teachers also gathered feedback from the host organizations on teaching and talent cultivation, to further strengthen collaboration between the university and the industry.
A total of 12 teachers participated in the visits: Prof. Wong Weng Chou, Prof. Tang Juan, Prof. Lee Hoffer Ming, Dr. Feng Yan, Dr. Chen Yujie, Dr. Yang Chieh Yun, Dr. Liu Yingni, Dr. Zhu Yanni, Dr. Gou Rui, Dr. Susanna Kim, Dr. Hong Fang, and Dr. Wang Shuo. The visited organizations included Mandarin Oriental, Macau; Galaxy Macau; Wynn Macau, Ltd.; SJM Resorts, Ltd.; W Macau - Studio City; Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16; Macau China International Convention and Exhibition Group, Ltd.; DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Beijing; Horwath HTL; China CYTS Tours Holding Co., Ltd.; Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality Headquarters; The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou; Hotel Indigo Guangzhou Haixinsha; The St. Regis Zhuhai; Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel.
The internship hosts generally gave positive evaluations of the students’ professional abilities, internship performance, and team spirit. At the same time, they also suggested that the faculty further strengthen training in multilingual communication and workplace etiquette for students.
In response, the faculty will refine the pre-internship curriculum and expand access to quality internship and job opportunities, further strengthening collaboration between the university and the industry. FHTM remains committed to developing students’ practical skills and global outlook, and to preparing industry-ready professionals who can contribute to the growth of the tourism and hospitality sector.
