The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) has recently received formal notification from the UN Tourism that its bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs have successfully achieved renewal of the TedQual Quality Tourism Education certification. This accomplishment underscores the faculty’s sustained excellence in curriculum design, teaching quality, industry engagement, and internationalization, reaffirming its alignment with the highest global standards in tourism education.
The programs renewed include the Bachelor of International Tourism Management and the Master of International Tourism Management, both renewed for a period of four years, as well as the Bachelor of Hotel Management and the Doctor of Philosophy in Tourism Management, renewed for three years. The faculty’s programs received high overall satisfaction, demonstrating excellence in curriculum planning, teaching support, management systems, faculty development, and industry engagement.

The audit report highlighted several key strengths of the faculty, including stable student enrollment, increasing high-level academic publications, a well-qualified teaching team, iconic training facilities such as a teaching restaurant, excellent graduate employment rates, and its strategic location in a major tourism hub. The faculty maintains strong ties with the industry through its Advisory Board and facilitates practical learning through annual internships for hundreds of students in Macao, Mainland China, and overseas.
The UN Tourism TedQual Certification is a globally recognized quality assurance system for tourism and hospitality education. It evaluates programs based on rigorous criteria including curriculum structure, teaching resources, administrative policies, faculty selection and development, and the relevance of program content to the evolving needs of the tourism sector.
The successful renewal of all programs not only reaffirms the faculty’s commitment to educational excellence but also reflects its ongoing dedication to promoting tourism ethics, sustainable development, and social responsibility.
