Macau University of Science and Technology Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Delegation Attends “Tourism Science 2026 Annual Conference”

From April 23th to 26th, 2026, a faculty-student delegation of more than 20 members from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology, led by Professor Jose Weng Chou WONG Assistant Dean, Associate Professor Zhang Yang Assistant Dean, Associate Professor Pan Su Ying Program Director (Graduate), and Associate Professor Tang Juan, was invited to attend the “Tourism Science 2026 Annual Conference”. The delegation also served as conveners for two parallel forums. Faculty and students actively participated in the conference, demonstrating the Faculty’s professional expertise and academic influence in the field of tourism studies.

As one of the most authoritative top-tier academic journals in tourism, Tourism Science holds extensive influence in both academia and the industry. The conference was held at Hainan University in Haikou under the theme “High-Quality Development and High-Level Opening of Cultural Tourism”. It brought together over 50 editorial board members and attracted nearly 700 participants from numerous universities and research institutions, including Nankai University, Xiamen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Sun Yat-sen University.

Assistant Dean Jose Weng Chou WONG served as convener of the parallel forum “Tourism Research from the Perspective of Interdisciplinary Integration and New Paradigm Construction”, while Program Director Pan Su Ying acted as discussant. Together, they led in-depth discussions on interdisciplinary theoretical innovation, new paradigm development, and breaking traditional disciplinary barriers, offering valuable academic insights for translating tourism research from theory to practice.

Assistant Dean Zhang Yang served as discussant of the parallel forum “Digital Intelligence Empowering Urban Space and Healing Experience Innovation”. She engaged participants in analyzing innovative applications of digital technology in urban spaces, pathways for technologically enabled healing experiences, and the integration of digital intelligence with humanistic care, providing important academic suggestions for the transformation of digital intelligence from theory to practice.

Associate Professor Tang Juan served as convener of the parallel forum “Sustainable Tourism and International Cooperation”. She led experts and scholars in exploring issues such as global sustainable tourism development, international cooperation mechanisms, and destination ecological and cultural protection, facilitating active academic exchanges.

Throughout the conference, the FHTM faculty-student team participated actively in various academic activities. With solid expertise and innovative research perspectives, they engaged in in-depth discussions with scholars from multiple universities and institutions, earning high praise from experts on site. In the future, M.U.S.T. FHTM will continue to actively participate in domestic and international academic conferences and related events, further promoting exchanges and development in the field of tourism studies, and making greater contributions to cultivating high-quality professionals.
