MUST Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Delegation Attends 「The 8th International Conference on Tourism, Hospitality & Education Cooperation」 and Delivers Keynote Speech

From May 16th to 18th, 2026, a faculty-student delegation of 6 members from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), led by Professor Jose Wong Weng Chou, Assistant Dean of FHTM and Assistant Professor Feng Yan Program Director (Tourism Management) of FHTM, were invited to attend the “The 8th International Conference on Tourism, Hospitality &Education Cooperation.” Professor Jose Wong Weng Chou was invited to serve as a keynote speaker at the conference. The delegation actively participated in the conference, demonstrating the faculty’s professional expertise and academic influence in the field of tourism studies.

Hosted by the Ningbo University - University of Angers Joint Institute in Ningbo, Zhejiang, the conference was themed “From Green to Good - Innovative Pathways to Sustainability and Well-being in Tourism and Hospitality.” The conference invited Professor Marianna Sigala, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Management; Professor Bob McKercher from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Professor Honggang Xu, Dean of School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University (China); and Professor Chaowu Xie, Dean of the School of Tourism, Huaqiao University, to attend and deliver keynote speeches. It attracted nearly 100 participants from numerous universities and research institutions, including Sun Yat-sen University, Fudan University, Northwest Normal University, and Huaqiao University.

In the keynote speech session on May 18, Professor Jose Wong Weng Chou delivered a speech titled “The trends and growth of information technology in hospitality and tourism industry,” sharing his insights on the opportunities and challenges that information technology brings to the tourism industry.

The conference aims to examine key domains including resource circularity, low-carbon technology applications, community symbiosis models, and health-oriented tourism products. Through the exploration of diverse pathways, the dissemination of cutting-edge empirical cases, and the forging of scholarly and practical consensus, the conference seeks to advance the tourism and hospitality industry toward an optimal equilibrium among ecological responsibility, social value creation, and user experience. Harnessing the power of innovation, the conference endeavors to chart a new trajectory for the industry’s sustainable development, positioning each journey as a conduct linking a green future with a life of well-being.
