The FHTM held the 8th Quality Service Ambassadors Competition

The 8th Quality Service Ambassadors Competition of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) was held on May 3, 2019 at Room N101. Professor Ben Goh, the Dean of FHTM, Miss Yan Cheang and Miss Way Ing Tah, Managers of Mandarin Oriental Hotel,Lecturer Kenneth Ng, Lecturer Daniel Kwok Wing Cheong,Dr. Ma Erdan and Dr. Chen Songhong attended the event as judges and guests. Thanks for their support and participation in the competition!

The competition was divided into three parts: wine tasting, tour guiding and scenario simulation. Contestants competed in groups and drew lots to determine the order and subjects of the competition. The competition began with the session of wine tasting. During this session, contestants had to identify the types of wine according to the color, smell and taste of the wine. When it moved onto the second session, tour guiding, the contestants took turns to give speeches sharing their own service conception with the judges and audience. With the preliminary training, all contestants impressed the audience with their outstanding performances.

When it came to the last session, scene simulation, the contestants took turns to go onto the stage to simulate the scene on the topic they had picked. Faced with the complex situation and challenging issues, the contestants again amazed the judges and the audience with their quick responses, witty answers and the abilities to deal with the challenging situation. In addition, a lucky draw for the audience was also held, which brought more fun to the competition.

After each session, the judges marked and evaluated the contestants based on their on-site performances. The winners were finally decided after the evaluation results were synthesized. LIN XIUYAN, SHEN YANG, and ZHENG LILI from Hotel Management program won first prize, LI QIMING, LI YIFENG, and ZOU LEYI from Hotel Management program won second prize, LIANG XIAOLIN, and JIN WENQI from Hotel Management program and HUANG WANLIN from Food and Beverage program won third prize, LIN XIUYAN, SHEN YANG, and ZHENG LILI won the popularity award. After the prize-presentation ceremony, the guests, competitors and staff took a group photo to mark the end of the competition.
