Professor Hai-Lin Qu from Oklahoma State University lecture presentations at FHTM

On October 18, 2019, Professor Qu Hailin of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Oklahoma State University of the United States was invited to visit the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at MUST, and was warmly welcomed by FHTM Dean Prof. Ben K Goh, program director Zhang Yang and Assistant professor Liu Jing.

In this visit, Professor Qu first of all gave a lecture entitled “New Developments and Trends in Research Methods in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry” in the morning of 18th October for faculties and doctoral students, Professor Qu Hailin provided the most cutting-edge research content and methods of the hospitality and tourism management based on changes in tourism research from 1980 to 2019 and revealed that the research methods of the tourism and hospitality industry ranges from single variable to multivariate, from questionnaire self-assessment to experimental measurement, from a single data source to a diverse data source, from qualitative or quantitative research to a combination of the two and from a single discipline to multidisciplinary.

The second lecture was held on 21st October entitled “Global trends in tourism and hospitality industry” for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Professor Qu summarized and interpreted the current industry development from 10 sections and delivered the recent industry information through videos and communications.

Professor Qu’s lectures inspired the students and staffs and broaden their academic scope and horizon, and obtained in-depth understanding of international cutting-edge tourism research methods and the latest industrial sources. The lectures were sponsored by Macao Foundation.
