First Online Lecture of FHTM’s “Seminars by Restaurant Managers” entitled “Effective Sponsorship of Food and Beverage Events” by Mr. Frank Yuen Yuet Ming

The first lecture of the “Seminars by Restaurant Managers” hosted by Faculty of Hospitality and Hotel Management (FHTM) was held via ZOOM on June 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Frank Yuen Yuet Ming, former Group Food & Beverage Consultant & General Manager, Guangdong Chimelong Goup Co. Ltd, was invited to give a talk and culinary demonstration entitled “Effective Sponsorship of Food and Beverage Events”. This Seminar was hosted by Mr. Daniel Kwok, Lecturer of FHTM and Dr. Brenda Yang nearly 50 students and teachers attended this online seminar. The seminar was sponsored by Macao Foundation.

Mr. Yuen first introduced what is overall the Food & Beverage Management and the components of a successful Food & Beverage Event which include Utilizing Income Statements and Operational Data; Optimizing Food and Beverage Menu; Managing Food & Beverage Supply Chain; Leading Team to Optimize Results; Building Guest Loyalty/Marketing. Then he shared two cases “The 6th Paulaner Oktoberfest at Sea World, Shenzhen 2019” and “Amazing Valentine’s Evening- Michelin Star Dining with 520 Swans at Chimelong Safari Park Guangzhou” and explained how to gain the effective sponsorship. Finally, Mr. Yuen gave “Three Gifts” – Creative, Leveraging and Focus for all the attendee to take home. With these three keywords, he encouraged our students to keep their passion and devotion in their future life in the industry.

During the online seminar, the students participated actively in the Q&A session. Mr. Yuen also shared his opinion concerning the effective marketing for Food & Beverage Industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. All the attendees enjoyed the seminar and found it a very good learning opportunity, which opened their mind and would enlighten their future development in the related field.

The FHTM has never stopped enriching students’ learning experiences through offering all kinds of learning opportunities. By participating in this seminar, students were able to encounter with the great professional managers, which broadened their knowledge and view on Food & Beverage Industry.
