As part of the celebration of M.U.S.T.’s 22nd Anniversary, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) held the third session of “Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism” on April 13, 2022, entitled “Tourism Mobility, Knowledge and Uncertainty”. Professor Allan Williams from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Surrey, UK, was invited as the guest speaker to share his views on the topic. Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Program Director Dr. Zhang Yang, Assistant Professor Liu Chao, Assistant Professor Gao, Xiongbin and other teachers of FHTM attended the lecture. In addition, about 100 students majoring in MITM, MHMT and DPTM attended the lecture via Zoom.

Prof. Ben K. Goh thanked Professor Allan Williams for giving online lecture to teachers and students of our faculty under the current epidemic. He hoped that students would cherish this rare opportunity and learn from the professor humbly. He also encouraged students to expand their research interests and research directions.

In this lecture, Professor Allan Williams systematically explained that tourism mobility, the knowledge level of tourism individuals and their tolerance for risk and uncertainty play a key role in both the production and consumption of tourism. After the presentation by Professor Allan Williams, the students gained a deeper understanding of the topic. Professor Allan Williams also made a specific analysis based on the impact of the current epidemic on the tourism industry, bringing a more in-depth research perspective to the students and giving them more inspiration and thoughts. In the final Q&A session, the teachers and students raised very profound questions, which Professor Allan Williams answered patiently and meticulously.
