Being designated as Academic Convener of the Parallel Forum, the delegation led by Associate Professor Tang Juan of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (F.H.T.M.) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) attended the 2024 Annual Conference of Tourism Geography Committee of GSC (The Geographical Society of China) from July 5 to 7 2024. The Assistant Dean of F.H.T.M, Associate Prof. Wong Weng Chou, Jose also attended this conference.
Held in Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center, this conference had the theme “Construction of Beautiful China and Integrated Development of Culture and Tourism”. Tourism Geography Committee of GSC is dedicated to discussing a series of important academic issues, including the high-quality development of cultural and tourism integration, the promotion of green and low-carbon development, and the enhancement of the quality of the ecological environment. With more than 500 domestic and international scholars attracted, this conference holds great significance to promote China's cultural tourism construction and the academic development of tourism and geography. During the meeting, Assistant Dean. Wong Weng Chou, Jose and Associate Prof. Tang Juan actively exchanged views with other participants on related issues. Associate Prof. Tang Juan was invited to be the Academic Convener of the Parallel Forum “Research on the Construction of World Tourism Destinations in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and High-quality Tourism Development”. She conducted in-depth discussions with participants on diversified thematic studies, and gave expert comments from the perspective of tourism academics.

The Master and PhD students of MUST delegation also performed well in this conference. They presented their academic views on these topics, namely, “A Response-based Analysis of Employees' Reactions to Pro-Customer Violations under the Influence of Dual Leadership in Tourism Hotel”, “Study on the Sustainable Development Strategy of Tourism under the Perspective of Red + Health”, and “Study on the Impact of Folk Sports Events on the Sustainable Development of Local Tourism”. Their fluent presentation, as well as the confident style and academic level displayed in the on-site question and answer session have been highly recognized by experts, winning valuable advice to our students on related issues. In addition, the delegation also participated in the "Decision-making Consulting Report-Selection and Writing Workshop" and "Academic journals and high-quality Tourism Research Roundtable Forum" gathered by editors of several well-known top journals, including "Tourism Tribune" and “Geography".
The F.H.T.M delegation of MUST demonstrated the full academic vitality and solid academic foundation in this conference. This opportunity helps to establish a good academic relationship with the Tourism Geography Committee of GSC, as well as the organizer, Department of Tourism Management of SCUT (South China University of Technology), providing a platform for future academic cooperation. The relationship between MUST and mainland universities was further deepened, which will help to continuously promote the extensive exchanges and cultivate high-quality talents.
