The 2024 Seminar “Things Graduate Students MUST Know” – Graduate School Planning using the CV as a Guiding Tool, organized by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology and co-organized by the Student Association of FHTM, was successfully held on October 17, 2024, in Room O702 at MUST.

This event featured the highly regarded Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, who shared insights with our master's and doctoral students on the importance of resumes and their application in career planning. Approximately 200 faculty and students attended, including Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Associate Professor Wong Weng Chou, Assistant Dean of FHTM, Associate Professor Pan Su Ying, Graduate Program Director of FHTM and the event organizer Associate Professor Pai Chen Kuo.

Before the event began, Associate Professor Pan Su Ying introduced the background and objectives of the “Things Graduate Students MUST Know” series. Subsequently, Dean drew from his personal experiences to explore how resumes can serve as an effective tool for career planning. He emphasized that the content focus of resumes should differ between academia and industry; academic resumes should highlight research experiences and publications, while those entering the industry should emphasize internships and skill application. Dean also shared tips for crafting an outstanding resume, including how to showcase personal strengths and adapt to various career paths. Following the presentation, students actively posed questions and engaged in deeper discussions with Dean, concluding the event on a lively note.
This seminar not only provided practical guidance on resume writing for graduate students but also offered new perspectives and insights into their career planning.
