To celebrate M.U.S.T.’s 25th Anniversary, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) held the second lecture of “Seminars by Masters from Tourism Industry” on March 21st, 2025 at D Hall. Mr. Teng Tong, Vice President of Fliggy was invited as the guest speaker and provided an inspiring lecture entitled “Opportunities for Global Cultural Tourism Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”. Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Assistant Dean Dr. Wong Weng Chou, Program Director Dr. Feng Yan, Program Director Pan Su Ying and more than 400 teachers and students attended the seminar.

Prof. Ben K. Goh delivered an opening speech and appreciated Mr. Tong Teng’s efforts in public affairs, travel agency and his remarkable achievements. Mr. Tong Teng demonstrated himself as a role model of a successful entrepreneur for our students.

During the speech, Mr. Tong Teng firstly explained the origin of Fliggy Travel, and introduced how Fliggy Travel builds up the operation system of the enterprise by carving out the membership system, so as to integrate the upstream and downstream supply of the tourism industry. Mr. Tong Teng not only stated the change of the focus of the tourism industry from “traveller” to “consumer”, but also shared how Fliggy Travel solves the dilemma of Internet promotion through marketing. At the end of his speech, Mr. Tong Teng proposed to solve the problem of specialized corpus contamination through massive cross-referencing by addressing major AI industry challenges in the travel and tourism industry. Every audience was highly inspired by Mr. Tong Teng’s speech.

In the Q&A session, students raised many questions about AI, and cultural tourism development. Mr. Tong Teng kindly answered all the questions by sharing his personal experiences and provided the insightful perspective about the future development in this field.

Mr. Tong Teng is the Vice President of Fliggy Travel. He has extensive experience in public affairs and government-business collaboration. He was a founding member of the Strategic Development Department at Alibaba Group. Now at Fliggy Travel, he oversees travel public affairs and government-business collaboration efforts.
