Program Director Dr. Feng Yan Presented a Souvenir to Professor Kathryn
Professor Kathryn Jean Medico is a renowned professor at the Swiss Hotel Management School. She is an accomplished journalist, educator, author, and public speaker, and has previously served as a manager at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Kathryn referenced the case of Kim Ung Yong, a child prodigy from South Korea, to explain the importance of a sense of belonging and empathy in the hotel service industry from a psychological perspective. She then elaborated on how job applicants can use communication skills to leave a lasting impression on interviewers, specifically through "Paint the Picture + Describe How You Felt + Finish on a Positive Note." The professor also pointed out that in today’s highly competitive hotel market, adopting a truly customer-centered service philosophy is the key to standing out.
Professor Kathryn’s Delivered the Speech
During the interactive Q&A session, the atmosphere was enthusiastic. Students from FHTM actively raised questions, covering topics such as how hotel managers can mitigate the risks of a "foolish" mindset leading to blind optimism and how job applicants can naturally share their stories during hotel interviews. Professor Kathryn answered patiently and thoroughly, integrating both theoretical knowledge and practical industry experience into her responses, which greatly benefited the students.
Students Raised Questions
