Three alumni with experience in luxury hotels were invited as guest speakers: Tibby Tan (Citadines Chengdu), Tiffany Xing (Londoner Court Macau), and Bubble Xu (Marriott South Area). During the session, the speakers explored the “bittersweet realities” of working in the hotel industry. They highlighted that hotel work is fast-paced, involves shift duties, requires coordination with multiple departments, and often entails handling guest complaints and urgent situations— making it highly demanding.

However, they also emphasized that the hospitality field offers valuable opportunities for cross-cultural interactions, professional achievement, and personal growth. It fosters the development of patience, communication skills, crisis management ability, and cross-cultural competence—essential elements contributing to a hotelier’s professional advancement. Toward the end of the symposium, a Q&A session was conducted. Students raised questions about hotel internships, CV preparation, interview skills, cultural differences in the workplace, and career development. The speakers responded to each question based on their own experiences, providing concrete advice and encouraging students to be proactive in exploration and preparation for the future.

The symposium lasted approximately two hours and concluded successfully. Through the heartfelt sharing from the speakers, students gained a more comprehensive and practical understanding of the hospitality industry, which will help them plan their personal development paths in advance.
