In celebration of the 26th Anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) successfully held the 5th Three Minutes Impact Talk on April 8, 2026. Sponsored by MGM Macau, this year’s competition continued with the theme of innovative practice in talent cultivation for Macao’s “1+4” diversified industries. The event was open to postgraduate students and undergraduate students from higher education institutions across Macao. This edition attracted over a hundred registrants. Following the preliminary selection, 25 outstanding contestants advanced to the final, including 13 postgraduates and 12 undergraduates.

The competition invited an esteemed panel of judges, including Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM at MUST, Mr. Francis Tan, Vice President of Learning & Talent Management at MGM, Dr. Ho Hong Wai, Programme Coordinator of Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies at the Macao Polytechnic University as well as Assistant Professor Felix Otoo and Lecturer Ms. Dana Kan from FHTM at MUST.

Dean Ben K. Goh’s Opening Remarks
In his opening remarks, Dean Ben K. Goh emphasized that the Three Minutes Impact Talk not only trains students in the ability to convey complex research concisely but also deeply aligns with the Macao SAR Government’s “1+4” moderate diversification development strategy. He expressed gratitude to MGM for its continued support in integrating academia with practice and deepening university-industry collaboration, and he expressed hope that future competitions would attract participation from even more institutions, jointly promoting the high-quality development of higher education in tourism in Macao.

Mr. Francis Tan Delivered a Speech
Mr. Francis Tan remarked in his speech that MGM has always placed great emphasis on the nurturing and longterm development of local youth talent, firmly believing that youth are a key driving force for Macao’s sustainable future. The Company’s support for the MUST’s Three Minute Impact Talk exemplifies MGM’s commitment to fostering academic exchange, innovative thinking, and practical capabilities among youth talent. Looking ahead, MGM will continue to work closely with local tertiary institutions and community organizations to support a wide range of youth development initiatives, jointly creating a positive and inclusive environment for talent growth, and nurturing a new generation of professionals with international perspectives and strong expertise for Macao.

During the competition, each contestant was given three minutes to deliver an academic presentation in English. Focusing on Macao’s “1+4” diversification strategy and integrating their own research, participants clearly and vividly showcased their findings using a single slide. The judges evaluated the presentations based on content, delivery, and impact, while the live audience also voted for their favorite contestant.
