From April 17 to 19, 2026, the Grand Final of the 1st National University Innovation Transformation Competition was held at the School of Software, Shandong University. Hao Yankai, a student from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), served as the project leader and led his team to win the Gold Medal with the project “Starlink – A Pioneer of Smart Interconnection in the Industrial Internet Era”. The team features cross‑university collaboration, with members including Yang Kaiyuan and Li Junyi from Beijing Normal University‑Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, and Luo Yunqi from City University of Hong Kong. The team was supervised by Assistant Professor Zhang Mengchen from the Faculty of Liberal Arts at MUST and Associate Professor Ren Teng, Deputy Director of the Intelligent Equipment Research Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Zhuhai). With members from Macau, Zhuhai, and Hong Kong, the team achieved effective division of labor and resource complementation.

The project focuses on the application and transformation of smart interconnection technologies in the industrial internet, covering industrial scenarios, technology application, business models and implementation paths. As project leader, Hao was responsible for overall planning, team coordination and proposal refinement, playing a key organizational role.

This award demonstrates MUST students’ active engagement in innovation, entrepreneurship and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Faculty has long encouraged students to take part in high-level competitions and practical projects, strengthening their skills in planning, teamwork and problem-solving in real industrial settings. Moving forward, the Faculty will continue to support students in innovation, technology transfer and cross-disciplinary practice, integrating professional education with hands-on training to broaden their horizons and enhance overall competencies.
