On August 21–22, 2026, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology successfully organized its annual team-building retreat at Atour Hotel Foshan Shunde Happy Beach. The event brought together all faculty and staff members to enhance collaboration and jointly outline strategic priorities and curriculum reforms for the new academic year, reinforcing a foundation for continuous innovation and sustainable development.

FHTM also visited the Shunde Museum of Food Culture. As a UNESCO-designated "Creative City of Gastronomy," Shunde boasts a rich culinary history and unique Cantonese food culture. Through the interactive exhibitions, faculty members gained deep insights into the heritage and innovation of local gastronomy as well as the synergistic development model between food and tourism.

Presided over by Dean Ben K. Goh, the retreat commenced with a warm welcome to new faculty members, followed by in-depth discussions on the Faculty’s mission and vision, curriculum innovation with AI integration, internationalization strategies, and research promotion. Key initiatives for the upcoming year were introduced, including further development of AI-related courses and interdisciplinary collaboration, offering clear guidance for all participants.

During the retreat, several faculty members were honored for their outstanding contributions in teaching, research, and service during the 2025–2026 academic year.
The Excellence Awards were presented to Assistant Professor Hong Fang (Service), Associate Professor Kim Jinkyung (Research), and Assistant Professor Hu Xiao (Teaching). The Most Improved Awards recognized Assistant Professor Zhang Yulan (Overall), Assistant Professor Gou Rui (Service), Assistant Professor Zhu Yanni (Research), and Assistant Professor Pan Yu (Teaching). Additionally, the New Faculty Awards were conferred upon Lecturer Zhou Yang (Service), Associate Professor Wen Jun (Research), and Assistant Professor Ermias Kifle Gedecho (Teaching).
The event significantly strengthened team cohesion and provided a clear sense of direction for the Faculty’s future development. The Faculty remains committed to advancing educational innovation and global engagement, striving to provide students with a high-quality learning environment and greater opportunities for growth.
