Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), together with Associate Professor Xu Ye, led a delegation to the 2026 Global Legal and Sustainable Timber Forum held from 22 to 23 September 2026. The delegation exchanged views with representatives from governments, international organisations, industry, and academia on sustainable timber development, green supply chains and cross-industry collaboration.

Through thematic discussions, industry exchanges, and outcome presentations, the forum explored trends in legal and sustainable timber supply chains. Dean Ben K. Goh was interviewed by the media, where he shared perspectives on sustainability, cross-sector connections between green industries and hospitality/tourism, and Macao’s platform advantages. He also attended the launch ceremony of the Global Timber Index (GTI) Platform: Price Index.

The GTI platform reflects global timber industry developments and facilitates market information exchange; the Price Index further expands its information services. Participation also provided FHTM with an opportunity to advance sustainability and interdisciplinary exchange. Timber, construction, hospitality, and tourism are closely connected in green supply chains, sustainable procurement, low-carbon operations, and environmental governance.

Looking ahead, FHTM will continue to leverage its strengths in academic research, talent development, and academic-industry collaboration, engage with international platforms, and promote integration between hospitality and tourism management research and sustainable development, green industries, and global governance. These efforts will contribute to Macao’s development as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure and to economic diversification.
