The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) will hold the Two Sessions of “17th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries Culinary Workshop” -- Demonstration of Guinea-Bissau Cuisine and Cape Verde Cuisine on September 30th, 2025. Guinea-Bissau chef Lassiatu Bana Djalo Balde and Cape Verde chef Lamine Mascarenhas Medina will be invited to share their industry experiences and demonstrate culinary skills.

Guest Speaker of Demonstration of Guinea-Bissau Cuisine: Chef Lassiatu Bana Djalo Balde
Chef Lassiatu Bana Djalo Balde combines a legal background with professional culinary training, having studied organic and natural cuisine in Portugal. She is the founder and Co-CEO of a catering company in Guinea-Bissau, where she serves as Executive Chef. She has represented her country at international events such as the Lusophone Cuisine Festival in Macau, the African Cuisines Festival in Marseille, France, and the UEMOA Young Leaders Forum in Accra, Ghana. Specializing in organic cooking and creative culinary planning, she is fluent in Portuguese and French and is dedicated to promoting Guinea-Bissau’s gastronomic culture and modern culinary concepts.
Guest Speaker of Demonstration of Cape Verde Cuisine: Chef Lamine Mascarenhas Medina
Chef Lamine Medina brings extensive international culinary experience, having served as Head Chef and Executive Chef in Portugal, Germany, Angola, and Cape Verde. He represented Cape Verde in numerous global gastronomic events, including the World Food Championship in Alabama, USA, where he placed tenth among 200 chefs. He has also shown his skills at the Macau Gastronomic Forum and the Macaronesia Chef Meeting. Specializing in Cape Verdean, fusion, and international cuisines, he excels in kitchen management, menu development, cost control, and team training. He currently serves as the Executive Chef for the Cape Verde National Football Team, promoting African culinary culture on the world stage.
