On June.6th, 2016, eight students of FHTM participated in the summer study tour program in North Island of New Zealand led by Lecturer Zhu Yanni. This study tour included site visitation in Matakana Estate, New Zealand.
The tour lasted for 13 days. The students not only broaden their horizons and enriched their extracurricular experience by visiting and appreciating different cultures, but also improved their practical skills by participating in the classes. They had also visited the Matakana Estate as well as the vineyards. Wine Appreciation Classes had specially designed for students to let them learn more about wine. Apart from that, they had also visited the local chocolate factory and coffee making studio. Moreover, the students had experienced in the famous Matakana Agriculture Farmer Market led by a seasoned chef. They bought ingredients from the market and cooked a meal using local ingredients. The students had built a deep relationship with some residents after certain communications and activities.
FHTM strengthens ties with Matakana Estate, New Zealand through this study program and offer opportunities for our students to learn and practice in the field of tourism and hospitality.
