FHTM Hotel visit to The Londoner Macao – An Experiential Learning

On November 24, 2025, students from Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Macau University of Science and Technology, who are taking the course of Service Management for Hotel and Travel Industry (DE2), were led by their instructor Salott Chau to visit The Londoner Macao. Students had active interactions and communication with the personnel of the hotel during the process. The process mainly consists of three parts: visiting the back-of-house and concierge department, introduction to the overall layout and design of the hotel, and visiting the hotel rooms.

In the introduction of the concierge department, the department manager elaborated the department’s duties and responsibilities by combining real-life examples with a professional perspective. He emphasized the importance of the hotel concierge as the first point of connection with guests, giving priority to guests' experiences and addressing their needs. The explanation illustrated the essence and attributes of the hotel service industry.

During the tour, the outstanding representatives of The Londoner Macao wearing the Golden Key badges (awarded by the Les Clefs d'Or, symbolising a high standard of service for hotel staff) offered an overview of the hotel’s overall layout, landscape planning, and design concepts, showcasing the property’s rich cultural depth and exquisite craftsmanship, which left a strong impression on the students.

Finally, accompanied by representative from Front Office, the students visited the newly-opened Londoner Grand. By observing the demonstrations of high-quality services provided by the hotel staff, the students gained a more accurate and in-depth understanding of the world-class hospitality of a large integrated resort and the hotel’s meticulous attention to every service detail.
The content of this tour was rich and interesting, and the activity arrangements were diverse and wonderful. The participating students were highly engaged throughout, and the hotel staff responded with professionalism and warmth. This visit not only provided a more comprehensive explanation to the students of Macau University of Science and Technology from a professional perspective within the industry, but also deepened their understanding of the hotel industry and The Londoner Macao.
