An experiential learning: FHTM Hotel visit to Venetian Macao

On Monday, April 13, 2026 (Monday), Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology Dr, Salott Chau has led the class of Rooms Management DE1 to visit The Venetian Macao. The visit commenced with an in-depth briefing by hotel executives on the property’s massive infrastructure. With a portfolio of over 3,000 rooms, the management shared detailed insights into the spatial logistics required to sustain such a monumental operation. Students were given an insightful sharing at how the resort maintains peak operational efficiency while delivering standardized, world-class service to a global clientele.

The group was then escorted to the guest suites for a direct observation. Shifting focus from general aesthetics to functional design, the representative provided a granular analysis of the suite layouts and the brand philosophy reflected in the décor. The presentation highlighted the hotel's rigorous quality control from the precise placement of linens to the selection of premium amenities demonstrating how professional standards are evolved into a seamless guest experience.

A definitive highlight of the tour was the behind-the-scenes access to the hotel’s automated baggage handling system. In the luggage sorting center, students observed the high-speed conveyor belts in action. Watching the massive flow of luggage being precision-routed via automated systems provided students with an overall view on how industrial-grade logistics and modern technology enhance the operations of traditional hospitality sector.
