"Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism" Lecture Series: Professor Colin Michael Hall Talk on "The Future of Food Tourism"

On November 20, 2024, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Macau University of Science and Technology successfully held a lecture as part of the " Distinguished Scholar Forum of Hospitality and Tourism " series. The lecture was delivered by Professor Colin Michael Hall from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, on the topic "The Future of Food Tourism." The event was attended by Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Prof. Timothy Lee, Vice Dean of FHTM, Assistant Dean and Associate Professor Zhang Yang, Assistant Dean and Associate Professor Wong Weng Chou, and more than 100 faculty members and students.

Professor Colin Michael Hall has long been dedicated to research in food tourism, sustainable tourism, and regional development. He is recognized as one of the most-cited scholars in the field of tourism by Google Scholar. During the lecture, Professor Hall analyzed the current status and future trends of food tourism. He introduced the basic concepts of food tourism and focused on how to achieve sustainability in food tourism, as well as the importance of protecting and innovating local food cultures. Professor Hall also discussed the growing significance of food tourism in the global tourism industry and shared innovative strategies for its development.

After the lecture, Professor Hall engaged in an interactive discussion with faculty and students, delving into the latest research and practical challenges in the field of food tourism. The lecture provided valuable academic insights to the audience, deepening their understanding of the cutting-edge developments in food tourism research and offering new perspectives for future research and practice.
