The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the Macau University of Science and Technology successfully hosted an academic lecture on September 10, 2025. The event featured Professor Amit Sharma, Associate Director of the School of Hospitality Management at Pennsylvania State University, as the distinguished speaker. Professor Sharma delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Value Economics in Foodservice and Hospitality Research: Grant Funding for Hospitality and Tourism Research,” offering in-depth insights from an economic perspective on hospitality and tourism research projects. The lecture was attended by Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of F.H.T.M., Professor Timothy Lee, Vice Dean of F.H.T.M., Dr. Michael Lin, Assistant Professor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Assistant Dean of F.H.T.M. and Associate Professor Zhang Yang, Assistant Dean of F.H.T.M. and Professor Jose Wong, several other faculty members, and over 100 students. This seminar was sponsored by Macao Foundation.

Professor Sharma, who holds a Ph.D. in Finance, specializes in hospitality finance, sustainable food systems, and tourism economic development. As President of the International Association of Hospitality Financial Management Educators, he has published extensively and served as a consultant for organizations such as the World Bank. His outstanding contributions to teaching and research have earned him an Honorary Doctorate from the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers as well as multiple awards for academic excellence.

As a globally recognized scholar in hospitality and tourism management, Professor Sharma drew on his extensive research and practical experience to inspire both faculty and students. The event concluded with an engaging exchange session, during which participants expressed that they had gained valuable insights. The forum was supported by the Macao Foundation. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management will continue to invite leading experts to its forum series, with the aim of broadening the international perspective and professional understanding of its academic community.
