Introduced by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), a delegation representing the UNESCO Chair in Creative Economy and Public Policy from the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), Brazil, visited the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) on March 25, 2026. The delegation comprised research members Ms. Franciele de Carvalho Briedis, Mr. Anthony Alves da Rocha Thuner, and Dr. Mário César dos Santos de Carvalho and Chef Prazeres Quaresma Dos Santos, Director of Eco Restaurante Saldosa Maloca. Dr. Carvalho and Chef Santos also serves as Guest Chefs representing Belém, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. The delegation was warmly received by Dean Prof. Ben K. Goh, Assistant Dean Prof. Jose Wong, Program Director Dr. Brenda Yang, and Assistant Administrative Officer Ms. Michelle Ou.

During the visit, the delegation toured the University History and Achievement Exhibition Hall and the Culinary Labs, gaining valuable insights into MUST’s development and state-of-the-art practical training facilities. Afterwards, an exchange meeting was held in Meeting Room O733.

Discussion Session
At the meeting, Dean Prof. Ben K. Goh extended a warm welcome and introduced the Faculty’s academic achievements and international development in areas such as gastronomy tourism, creative economy, and sustainability. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics of mutual interest, including the application of Artificial Intelligence in public and creative governance, gastronomy and cultural heritage and innovation, sustainable development strategies at the city level, pathways for the creative economy, research initiatives and academic programs developed at MUST related to these themes.

Visited the University History Exhibition Hall
The delegation members shared insights into the research focus of the UNESCO Chair in Creative Economy and Public Policy, as well as the practical experiences of Belém as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Both sides agreed on the potential for future collaboration in academic research, student and faculty exchanges, and joint projects. The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with the exchange of commemorative gifts and a group photo. This visit further enhanced mutual understanding between Macao and Brazil in the fields of creative economy, gastronomic culture, and sustainable development, laying a solid foundation for deepening cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries and Latin American regions in these areas.
